Description
The Department of Economics at William & Mary, a public university of the Commonwealth of Virginia, seeks applications for a tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level. Appointment will begin August 10, 2026. We are seeking applications from established scholars and effective teachers working in areas related to public policy.
Duties include research, teaching, and service to the University. The successful applicant is expected to serve as the Director of William & Mary’s Public Policy program for a renewable five-year term. The applicant is expected to maintain a vibrant research program that inspires a highly motivated undergraduate student body and Master of Public Policy students. During the years when Director, the teaching expectation is 1 course per semester in Public Policy; after service as Director, the teaching expectation is 2 courses per semester split between Economics and Public Policy.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy, or an equivalent program.
Applicants must be scholars with an established record of policy-relevant research, as evidenced by publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals and experienced and effective teachers of policy-relevant courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
Applicants must demonstrate the potential to lead the W&M Public Policy program given their experience developing and/or implementing programs or initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience advising or mentoring students and/or junior colleagues in research or professional development.
Administrative experience, particularly in a university setting.
