Description
Antonio Villaraigosa for Governor 2026 is seeking a seasoned and strategic Political Director to lead our statewide political program. The Political Director will be responsible for building and managing relationships with labor, elected officials, advocacy organizations, and community leaders across California. This role is central to securing endorsements, strengthening coalitions, and ensuring that the campaign is strategically positioned to win.
The ideal candidate is a skilled strategist with a deep understanding of California politics, a proven record of coalition building, and the ability to navigate complex political environments. This position will require close collaboration with senior campaign leadership.
Requirements
Qualifications:
5–7 years of senior-level experience in campaigns, labor, advocacy, or government affairs.
Demonstrated success building coalitions and securing endorsements in competitive political environments.
Deep knowledge of California political landscape, labor movement, and advocacy organizations.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including briefing principals and stakeholders.
High level of political judgment, discretion, and ability to manage sensitive relationships.
Willingness to work long hours and travel extensively across California.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing statewide political programs.
Previous work with labor unions and progressive coalitions.
Existing relationships with California elected officials and advocacy leaders.
Spanish language skills a plus.
