Position Summary
The Social Media Manager / Communications Associate will play a key role in crafting and amplifying the campaign’s voice across digital and traditional media. This position is ideal for a strong writer with a good eye for compelling storytelling—someone who can develop high-impact social content, including editing social video, and assist with drafting press releases and pitching stories to local media.
Key Responsibilities
Work with communications advisors and campaign manager to develop and execute long-term social media plans in line with campaign’s communications and messaging goals.
Develop and create engaging organic social media content across platforms (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky) including filming and editing social videos, adding captions and basic graphics, and optimizing for social platforms.
Manage day-to-day social media needs such as posting, engaging with others’ content, and monitoring comments and DMs.
Monitor social media trends and news cycles to produce timely, relevant content.
Accompany candidate to certain events to capture social media content and/or coordinate with on-the-ground staff to manage content needs for events.
Hold weekly social media creation sessions with the candidate.
Coordinate with field and digital teams to amplify grassroots events and voter contact efforts.
Requirements
Qualifications
1+ year of experience in communications, digital, or a related role (internships included).
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with an ability to match voice and tone to the candidate.
Familiarity with social media strategy and experience managing campaign or organizational accounts.
Basic video editing skills (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Canva, CapCut, iMovie, or similar tools).
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, nimble environment with shifting priorities.
Experience with earned media and pitching to local or regional press.
Graphic design or photography experience.
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed, especially leading up to Election Day.
