Description

The McIntire School of Commerce and Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy at the University of Virginia invite applications for up to four full-time, Research Associate positions beginning August 2022 and beyond. The Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA) roles are made possible by a university-wide Mellon Foundation Grant on Race, Place, and Equity to advance research, creative practice, and teaching related to race, place, and equity. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant field by the start date of the appointment and demonstrate potential for strong research in areas related to race, diversity, equity, and inclusion in an organizational, business, leadership, or public policy related discipline .

Our multidisciplinary approach to problem-solving and emphasis on ethics reinforce our focus on how leadership works, why context matters in decision-making, and which actions lead to tangible results. The Post-Doctoral Associates will have the opportunity to work within one of the schools, across the intersection of business and public policy, and work together in a cohort with other associates across the university.

Postdoctoral Research Associate Support

The University, McIntire, and Batten are committed to providing PRAs with support for research, teaching, and professional development. Each PRA will be matched with a faculty mentor who will work directly with the PRA. Faculty mentors will also assist PRAs in making connections with others in the UVA community to facilitate community engagement and additional research collaborations.

PRAs funded under this program will be appointed for one year with an expectation of renewal for a second year, contingent upon a successful annual review. In addition to salary and benefits, the program will provide a research fund allocation for each PRA.

Requirements

Applicants must have a terminal (Ph.D.) degree before starting the research associate role. The schools specifically seek applicants with a relevant scholarly or creative focus in race, diversity, equity and/or inclusion. Areas of research may span one or more business and/or public policy disciplines but should focus on questions related to race, justice, equity, society, social psychology, or similar topics in commerce and/or organizations.
