The Regional Political Director is responsible for overseeing campaign and political operations in specified Illinois House Regional Districts. The Regional Political Director supports the efforts of the committee in their region including, but not limited to, candidate recruitment, opposition research, candidate development, campaign management. The position is based in Westchester, Illinois. In-state travel required as necessary.



  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two years of previous campaign or other relevant experience, with an emphasis on Experience developing campaign plans and strategy
  • Experience in setting and achieving measurable targets, managing teams, and coordinating between multiple stakeholders
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed, particularly during campaign season
  • Availability to work effectively with elected and party leaders and members of the general public
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for Democratic politics
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Developing a campaign budget, working with candidates to oversee fundraising plan, and overseeing the day to day finances of the campaign
  • Implementing candidate recruitment efforts in assigned region
  • Serving as the primary contact for candidates, including overseeing field plans and candidate training
  • Conducting outreach to constituency groups, organizations and other key elected and party officials and allies
  • Management of primary and general election campaigns, including oversight of other paid staff members
  • Monitoring and possessing a strong knowledge of relevant local, state and federal issues affecting Democratic elected officials.
  • Ensuring that information utilized in public communications including digital, mail and broadcast communications is factual.
  • Utilizing online research and examination of public records to execute short- and long-term research goals
  • Working with communications team and senior political staff to implement key messaging and digital, mail and broadcast communications for candidates.
  • Completing other tasks as designated

 Additional skills desired:

  • Experience with VAN, Nexis, Microsoft Office, GSuite, and social media platforms
  • Understanding of state policy issues
  • Spanish or other second language skills

Salary: $50,000 including health, dental and vision insurance.
